It usually includes an external and an internal lightning protection system, in addition to complementary protection measures:<\/p>\n

The external lightning protection system (IEPF<\/strong> ) is designed to<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. a) intercept lightning strikes on the structure (by a capture device)<\/li>\n
  2. b) to safely discharge the lightning current to earth (via a down conductor);<\/li>\n
  3. c) disperse the lightning current into the earth (through a network of earth connections).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The interior lightning protection system (IIEF)<\/strong> prevents dangerous sparking in the structure by using an equipotential bonding or separation distance (and thus electrical insulation) between the components of the external protection system and other internal conductive elements of the structure.<\/p>\n

    Complementary measures are essential protective measures against injuries to living beings due to contact and step voltages. <\/strong>They are intended for:<\/p>\n

    1) to reduce the dangerous currents flowing in the human body by isolating the masses and\/or by increasing the surface resistivity of the ground;<\/p>\n

    While indoor lightning protection systems are managed by globally unified standards, several outdoor lightning protection systems are possible. These systems differ according to the capture devices and the principle of lightning current flow to ground. <\/span><\/p>\n

    All these protection systems are equal. The choice of the type of protection depends on the nature and the activity of the site to be protected, as well as on the objectives of the customer (budget, conformity to a particular standard, etc.)<\/span><\/p>\n

    To design and implement its lightning protection installations, Elexpert uses the latest international and Moroccan standards in the field, in particular the NM IEC 62305-1:2020, NM IEC 62305-2:2020, NM IEC 62305-3:2020 and NM IEC 62305-4:2020 series of standards (derived from the IEC 62305-x:2012 standards), as well as the NM 06.1.050:2020 standard (equivalent to the NF C17-102:2011 standard) <\/span><\/p>\n

    Elexpert was the instigator of the implementation of these Moroccan standards in 2020 and continues to work for the enrichment of the normative arsenal in this field, in collaboration with IMANOR.<\/span><\/p>\n
