Integral solution for protecting small, sensitive installations against disturbances from the internal and external electrical network

Several failures regularly affect equipment installed in bank branches, medical offices or even small telecom or broadcasting sites, causing the interruption of service or even the destruction of sensitive equipment such as ATMs, medical equipment and transmitters.

Even the installation of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (on-line double conversion inverters) does not solve most of these problems. Worse, inverters are even among the first to suffer from the occurrence of these phenomena.

These disturbances are often of external origin. They can come from :

Transient overvoltages arriving through the agency’s power supply line following network disturbances (accidents affecting the lines), switching overvoltages (Ferranti effect), or triggering of protections in the vicinity (short-circuits)
Temporary or permanent overvoltages caused by the cutting of the neutral conductor supplied by the energy distributor
Temporary or permanent overvoltages caused by faults or uncorrected earth leaks in the neighbourhood
Indirect lightning strike: Penetration of lightning current through the ground (step voltage).
Rocky soil or unfavorable terrain (very high resistivity)
Etc.

But disturbances of internal origin can also exist. They are often caused by:

Degradation of the grounding system (high ohmic value of the grounding well, bad connections of the grounding conductors, etc.)
Untimely tripping of protections (in case of short-circuit on an outlet for example)
Ground leaks on some feeders or insulation faults on equipment, not detected (air conditioners, lighting, etc.)
Poor distribution of the protective conductor (equipotentiality)

The solution includes several features offering:

Protection against rapid variations in the voltage of the electrical network, allowing to compensate for voltage dips, undervoltage and a large part of micro outages. This static voltage stabilizer-regulator function also protects the equipment against permanent or temporary overvoltages arriving through the external line, in addition to ensuring a very stable voltage for the equipment (+/- 3%), thus improving their life span.
Protection against overvoltages due to coupling phenomena and the circulation of fault currents from the external network (galvanic isolation transformer)
Protection against overvoltage due to cutting of the neutral conductor (local neutral tap)
Protection against transient switching surges and lightning strikes (internal surge protectors)
Protection against very high frequency interference voltages (LC filter between neutral and ground)
A protection against overvoltages due to electrostatic discharges (electrostatic screen)
Protection of persons and equipment against indirect contact by intelligent, ultra-immune differential relay with earth leakage current display
Possibility to adjust the output voltage level between 210 and 240V +/- 3% (voltage regulator function)
Automatic reset of protections (optional). This function can be crucial in the case of pharmaceutical laboratories or bank branches that need to operate strategic machines during the night and weekends (automats, servers, ATMs, etc.). 7 out of 10 trips are often due to temporary phenomena (first rains, atmospheric disturbances, etc.) and do not require repair. It is therefore sufficient to reset the differential protections in these cases.
