In simple terms, voltage optimization consists of reducing and stabilizing the voltage supplied to electrical equipment, thus reducing the power demand and thus the energy consumption. It also includes the reduction of voltage imbalances between phases.

This type of solution generally also reduces maintenance costs and improves the life of the equipment.

All modern electrical products are designed to operate efficiently at a voltage level of 220 V. Any over-voltage potentially results in over-consumption of energy. Taking for example a linear resistive load, such as a traditional light bulb, a voltage drop of 10% could bring a power drop of about 18%.

The reduction of the phase-to-phase voltage imbalance from 5% to 1% reduces the Joule losses in asynchronous motors and ensures up to 4% energy savings in some cases.

However, voltage management and optimization is not suitable for all sites and electrical loads.
